In some instances an upgrade may grant additional perks. These perks are offered in a list.
In item upgrading , the upgrade will only replace the highest-costing perks. The upgrader can also make other modifications to the item, for example, changing the damage type of its weapon or removing an operative or unwieldy option. The cost for these modifications is based on the new ilvl of the item, and may require a special substance, such as adamantine alloy.
Success Rate
The basis for upgrading items is the chance of success, and as with any random system there is a chance that the upgrade won't succeed. There are a few ways to increase your chances of success. This includes the use of an item dubbed an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of extra components to the upgrade.
An Upgrade Pity is an item you can purchase from the smithing NPC in Lost Ark. It increases the chance of an upgrade succeeding by a certain percentage. It is similar to the luck bonus certain items offer but is more solid. This can be added to any weapons or armor and can be used three times.
You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These are shown in a separate window, above the + button. There are a few limitations. The maximum amount of material you can upload is shown directly above the + button.
Another method to increase the chances of an upgrade achieving success is to use the item known as Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item is helpful if you have an item or weapon equipment that is at the maximum level for its tier, or is close to it.
